How To Make Temporary Tattoos Last Longer

For those who love the look of ink without the lifelong commitment, temporary tattoos are the perfect accessory. But there’s nothing more disappointing than seeing your favorite design start to flake after just one day.

Whether you're prepping for a music festival, a sports event or just testing out a sleeve idea, we have tips to keeping your ink looking fresh. Plus, we’ve just launched a brand-new material that will help make your tattoos last longer.

Start with the Right Material

How to Apply Your Tattoo for Maximum Wear

Preparation is 90 percent of the battle. Follow these steps to ensure your tattoo bonds perfectly to your skin:

1. Cleanse and Prep

Apply your tattoo to bone-dry skin, free of oils. Avoid applying lotion or sunscreen to the area before you put the tattoo on, as this creates a barrier that prevents the adhesive from sticking.

2. Shave the Area

If the spot you’ve chosen is particularly hairy, give it a quick shave. Hair creates tiny air pockets under the tattoo, which leads to premature peeling. A smooth surface means a longer-lasting design.

3. Choose Your Placement Wisely

Avoid joints (like elbows or knees) or areas where your skin folds and stretches. The more the skin moves, the faster the tattoo will crack. It's also best to avoid hgh-friction areas, like under a watch strap or where a backpack rubs.

Pro Tips for Aftercare

Your tattoo will need a little TLC to reach that six-day mark. Here's how to care for it:
Set it with powder: After the tattoo has dried, lightly dust it with translucent face or baby powder. This removes the shine and creates a protective barrier against clothing friction.
Use the hairspray trick: A light mist of hairspray over the dry tattoo act as a top coat to keep the design intact.
Don’t scrub: When you shower, wash around the tattoo. If you have to wash the area, use mild soap and pat it dry very gently with a towel. Never rub it!
Avoid the sun: UV rays can fade the pigments in your tattoo. If you’re heading outside, apply sunscreen over the tattoo once it is fully set.

Easy Removal

When you’re ready for a change, you don't need to scrub your skin raw. Our new material is designed to remove easily with baby oil or any oil-based makeup remover. Simply soak a cotton pad, hold it over the tattoo for a minute, then wipe it away.
